Polestar performance coupé to be revealed on 17 October
The preview images, when pieced together (below), form a car bearing a striking resemblance to the Volvo Concept Coupé of 2013
Volvo’s now-standalone sporting brand has shown snippets of its first model and a date for its debut
Predictably, little is given away by the pictures individually, but styling cues from Volvo are evident in the tail-lights.

Polestar has also revealed that the model will be revealed on 17 October in the series of preview images, but has not confirmed what kind of car it will be, nor whether it will be a production model, or a concept.
A previous Autocar report discovered that the brand’s first model as a marque independent of the Volvo badge will be a 600bhp hybrid coupé, which could be based upon the Volvo S60 and is due next year.
A powertrain based on that of the Volvo XC90 T8 is expected, with a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine producing in excess of the T8’s 324bhp and an electric motor upgraded beyond its 81bhp.
The preview images, which Polestar presented as a puzzle with numbered pieces, was put together by an Instagram user (see above). When arranged, they show a fragmented image of the complete rear of the car, which takes strong influence from the Volvo Concept Coupé, which was revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show.
That car too was a plug-in hybrid, designed by Polestar boss and then-Volvo chief of design Thomas Ingenlath. Performance figures of 395bhp and 442lb ft were quoted for the model, which was based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture.
