Citroen teases city car concept ahead of Geneva reveal
French firm developing two concept vehicles, including a small car that channels ‘the spirit of the 2CV’
The two concepts were confirmed by Citroën boss Linda Jackson in a video previewing the VivaTech event that will be held in Paris on 16-18 May.
While the luxury concept will make its world premiere at VivaTech, Citroën tweeted that there would be “more to come” on 19 February. Arnaud Belloni, the firm’s global marketing boss, previously told Autocar that the city-focused concept would appear at Geneva. The model will celebrate Citroën’s centenary, and Belloni said it would be “as important to Citroën as the 2CV was”.
Jackson said the first concept will “give Citroën’s vision in terms of urban mobility”. The video ended with a series of close-up teaser shots of the concept, showing narrow, sharp LED lights that wrap around the corners of the car and a close-up of a bold, stylised wing mirror.
Belloni previously noted the machine would be fully electric and preview an affordable production car, maintaining the spirit of the 2CV but with an ubran rather than rural focus,
The second concept car that will debut at VivaTech will “embody Citroën’s take on ultra-comfort”, according to Jackson. She added that the firm had worked with a number of French technology start-ups to “showcase its best innovation in digital or on-board customer experience”.
